Hearth. A place born out of necessity for our work to find each other again.
Traditionally, a hearth is the centre of a home or gathering; a place of warmth, of sharing and safety.
Hearth is a show by eight recent NCAD graduates who have created alongside each other over the last four years. Despite the works varying mediums and themes, these artists have developed a collective visual language over the course of their practices. This language probes and examines the ever-shifting feelings of home, place, and community in contemporary Irish culture. This exhibition is built by these artists' desire to work alongside one another, to expand on this language and to deepen this collective thought.
As artists and friends, all that we create is entangled; we draw from the ashes in unison, we cook for each other over the flames and dance to its crackling together. In our parting we took embers and have held them near. This exhibition is a celebration of community, of holding people near. It is our returning to each other; the rekindling of the hearth.
